Letters to Justine

Dear Ms. Waddel,

I am a 10th grader in high school, and I wanted to tell you that I am the only one who even knows what Masterpiece Theatre is. I loved your character in Mansfield Park, and even more so in Wives and Daughters. I just wanted to say thank you for bringing great, clean, and sophisticated entertainment to television.

Sincerely,
Ahnika

Dear Miss Justine Waddell,

Your preformance in Wives & Daughters was beautiful. I think the part that moved me the most was when you were playing the piano and trying to hold back your tears beause your love was falling for someone else. The way you portrayed it was so real. Thank you for you preformance it was one of the best i have seen. I would like to think that your character is like that of Molly Gibson loyal, humble, and pure. God bless your future career and I hope to see you in many more movies.

much love and respect,
Christine

Dear Ms. Waddell,

Please let me say how much I have enjoyed your performance as Molly in
"Wives and Daughters" which is currently being broadcast here in Houston,
Texas. Among the many fine actors and actresses in that production, you
have created a charming and fascinating character. I wish you the greatest
success in your future endeavors.

All the best
Edward Sevcik

Hi Ms. Waddell,

How are you? I am a fan of yours from India. I have seen the movie 'Dracula 2000' recently and I liked your performance in it so much that, just to watch your performance, I saw it two more times. So naturally, when I saw for information about your other works, I was not at all surprised to find that, you come from a theatrical background. In my lifetime, I would love to visit you in person at least once.

Well, that's it I guess, if possible (I know how tough it will be for a famous person to reply to all fan letters), please find some time to
reply and I will be honored.

Thanks.
Regards.

Dear Justine:

I have seen you in lots of costume dramas, and you are my favourite actress. I think you are very talented, and I wish you lots of luck with your future. I would be very grateful if you could keep the site updated with news on what you're doing, as I would love to see you in more films or television. It would be also be fabulous if you ever did a UK tour, and came up north, as it would be amazing to see you act live.

Best wishes,

Dear Justine,

I recently saw Wives and Daughters on television, well, my whole family actually. I think it's almost unbelievable what you perform in Wives and Daughters. You can play so natural, and you when you cry, it all just seems so real. I love that story, and I'm so happy that it's you who performs Molly Gibson. If it had been someone else, it wouldn't have been such a great movie. I had seen the movie once before, but I wanted to see it a second time. But after I'd seen it a second time, I kept thinking about you all day. I wanted to see you again, to see photos of you. I was so happy at the moment I found this site, that is dedicated to you. I think you deserve
it. As beautiful as an English Rose they call you, well, I truly share that opinion. I hope this letter will ever reach you. I just want to say that I think you can play marvellous and I hope to see you again in other movies. Just remember that you have a 15-year old fan in Holland.

Dear Justine,

It has been about a year or so since I watched your performances in "Great Expectations" and "Tess of the d'Urberville's" respectively. I think you're a lovely and talented actress. After quite a bit of searching, I thank God that I have finally found your website. As much as I enjoy watching you perform, I would be interested in finding out more about the woman behind the actress. I learned from reading your biography that you studied politics at Cambridge (it's nice to know that you're well educated and not just a pretty face). As someone who is also a student of politics (I'm also a student of history, theology, and philosophy), I would be
interested to know how you came to be interested in politics. I would be honoured to receive a reply from you; hopefully we could spend some time exchanging viewpoints and experiences. In the meantime, I wish you all the best.

Godspeed,

Dear Justine,

Tess of the D'Urbervilles has just been shown on New Zealand national television. New Zealand? The other side of the world, sheep, mountains etc. Your performance of Tess was outstanding. You gave her the power and the complexity that I haven't seen in other perfromances of this character. You could really see what she was thinking on your face and I never seen a female actor this powerful. I really hope you continue acting because your style is very transporting. Best of luck with whatever you plan to do anyway.

Dear Ms. Waddell:

Two nights of the fine production "Great Expectations", enjoyed thanks to you and your co-actors. I had never seen this play, or any of your performances before. The character you brought to life will stay with me a long time.

I have to say, your features resemble a much older actress, whom I admire, Geraldine McEwan. I really checked into your biography because I felt sure you were related to Ms. McEwan, but I was wrong. I imagine her beauty as a young woman to resemble your own. Take care of yourself and stay out of the sun.

Good fortune and much success in whatever you choose to do with your life.

Dear Ms Waddell:

I have just finished watching your performance of Molly Gibson in "Wives and Daughters". You were brilliant. You recreated the character perfectly, and conveyed so much of her depth, strength and emotion. It was a wonderful experience to be so moved by your acting. As others have said elsewhere, you are a truly gifted and remarkable actress. Good luck with everything you do, and thank you.

With great admiration,
Graham

Dear Justine:

How it has come to this, I don't know. Last night I dreamt of you waiting for me as I raced home from God knows where. When I had finally made it home you were there - soaking wet from waiting for me in the rain. I touched you tenderly to stop your chills. We went inside and I asked you to change your wet clothes for something dry. When you reappeared from the room you were wearing a white, casual dress. I held you. I took you to the bedroom and we laid down. I caressed your chin, cheeks and eyes while we laid there. Soon you fell asleep. I sat there awake, watching you. I cried. I woke up crying.

Justine, I have lived through much - perhaps not everything - but enough. I don't know you - I probably never will. Yet I feel more for you than I have ever felt. You appear in my dreams, a welcome apparition. Should you find this letter, ever, I am yours. Please don't think me odd for writing this - it has taken me many months to gather the courage to put anything in writing at all. But since this is the best chance I have of contacting you at the moment, I thought it worth it to at least try. Justine, I am sure you have many great things ahead of you but through all of that success I hope that you can keep the simple love of a simple stranger in mind. I would sell the world for a chance to meet you. I would sell eternity for a chance to be yours.

All of my love,

Dear Miss Waddell:

I'd like to take the opportunity to say that your portrayal as Tess of the D'Ubervilles was simply amazing. I read the book a few months before the production made its debut on television, and imagine my surprise to see the very face of Hardy's heroine coming through the screen! Since then I've made all my friends watch it and every time we cry our eyes out. A beautiful performance from you and all the 'Tess' cast. It has become a definite favourite. Am looking forward to seeing your future projects.

Sincerely,
Andie Chan
